In the end, I'm not really sure what I would prefer. This would make a Borg faction very linear and possibly boring. They do what they are told and that's it. As a Starfleet or KDF Captain we have options, where as the Borg drones don't. The biggest difference between the Borg and our current factions is that the Borg have no choices. They act as the brain and we act as the body. This isn't very different from Admiral Quinn or Chancellor J'mpok telling us to go on a mission. The brain tells the body what to do, even though we don't hear or see it, we know it happens.
Think about it like this, the Hive Mind is like the Human brain and the Drones are like the body. In the Star Trek shows and movies we don't see the Hive Mind telling the Drone what to do, but it does happen. This is where it gets a bit tricky, so bear with me.
They perform tasks based on the Hive Mind, instead of individual thoughts. How about a true Borg faction where players play as Drones? The biggest argument against this is the fact that Drones are part of the Collective and don't think for themselves. Liberated Borg characters are a perk for lifetime subscribers, and this type of faction would open up Liberated Borg to everyone, which might not be fair to lifetime subscribers. This is probably the best idea and would work perfectly, but we have one problem. Simply put, this would be an entire faction of Liberated Borg who pretty much fight the Borg. Let's start with the Liberated Borg faction idea. This week, I'm going to tell you how I think a Borg faction can work and my logic behind it. I asked all of you to give me your thoughts on a Borg faction and there were some good ideas. Last week I spoke about the latest Ask Cryptic and how Daniel Stahl said he would like to add both Romulan and Borg playable factions to the game.
